Preparation for Surgery
In addition to ensuring that your decision to have laser vision correction is made based on a thorough understanding of the procedure, as well as reasonable expectation of what laser vision correction can and cannot accomplish, preparation for surgery includes a thorough eye examination, keratometry, pupillometry, corneal topography, and multiple careful refractions. In addition, a WaveScan is obtained to measure the degree of higher order aberrations present in each eye.

Contact lens wear needs to be discontinued prior to the evaluation for laser vision correction as well as prior to the actual laser procedure itself. Soft contact lenses should be left out for 2 weeks, rigid contact lenses should be out for at least 4 weeks, or until the refraction and topography stabilize.

Antibiotic eye drops are used starting 1 day prior to the laser procedure.
