Juvederm® is an FDA-approved, injectable filler used to treat facial lines and other skin imperfections.

How Juvederm Works

The active ingredient in Juvederm dermal filler, hyaluronic acid, is a naturally occurring, biodegradable complex sugar found in the human body and in all living organisms. Among other things, hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin and adds volume, contributing to the overall appearance of the skin.

The ability of cells to produce hyaluronic acid diminishes with age, often resulting in the formation of facial wrinkles and folds as the skin loses volume. Juvederm is administered in small doses by intradermal injection directly into facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the folds running from the sides of the bottom of the nose to the outer corners of the mouth), temporarily filling and augmenting the treated area.
After Your Juvederm Treatment

Many people are worried about recovery after dermal filler injections. You may be happy to know that the recovery period after a Juvederm procedure is minimal. There may be possible side effects like redness, swelling and discomfort at the injection site which tend to subside within several days. Occasionally a bruise may be present which may take several days to resolve.

How long can expect these results to last?

The results of Juvederm last about six to nine months depending on the location.
